Easter Musical 2011
At the beginning of April, my church produced an Easter Musical. I always think our choir director picks out the prettiest musicals for us to sing and play in. I play the oboe in our church orchestra, though, so I was playing instead of singing. Sometimes I wish I could do both at the same time. Wouldn't that be awesome if you could do that.... er.... maybe I'm the only one that thinks about impossible things like that, but I really truly do. I love to sing, but I also love to play, and well since I'm the only one at church that plays the oboe, I'm always stuck in the dang orchestra, not that I mind :D And while we're on the subject of complaining, why must "professionals" always wear black? It's such a boring dark color. Seriously. How awesome would it be if a choir suddenly decided to wear all bright colors. Can you imagine how cheery and happy the place would be? I'm just saying.

I looove everything about the color black, but I don't see why people "have" to wear it to sing either, especially for an Easter play. That would only be better in bright colors!
Beautiful outfit! Are the shoes vintage?
I'm very fond of the color black, but I see your point. Sometimes brighter colors are for the better ;)
My shoes are actually from Kohls that I got for like $20, and they were identical to a pair I had been coveting from Urban Outfitters that were $80
I play flute and I've always wanted to play and sing, too. Which is why I'm learning piano. :)
I love this dress! I'm on such a 30's kick at the moment and it makes me greeeeeen with envy. :) How neat you play the oboe!
That is one of the most elegant orchestra outfits I've ever seen. Good job! My church has choir and orchestra every week - instrumentalists in black, singers in solids - so I totally understand the frustration. I'm a singer, but I do get tired of not being able to wear prints! The good things is that on Easter we get to wear what we want, including the orchestra. It's fun. No Easter musical for us, but the equivalent is the yearly Christmas cantata. BTW, I love the oboe. We usually have only one, sometimes two, and it's a treat when they're more important in the arrangements.
(He is risen!)
My church rotates worship teams (my husband is in about 4 of them) but really they need some music help other than maybe two of the worship teams. He plays bass guitar and sometimes does harmonies in the songs with vocals. They did an Easter Cantata last year that wasn't that bad actually. Just not my thing. I think choirs are pretty neat in churches!! If they can sing anyway. My husband's childhood church has a choir and they all sound so sad and off key and dreadful. they are all also between the ages of 55-90 too in the choir which may be part of the issue.
your outfit is so so lovely!!!!!!!!!!!!
