At the Zoo

Last weekend my boyfriend and I went to The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and Zoombezi Bay (their waterpark).  The Columbus Zoo is the best Zoo in the country, or at least that's what the commercials say :D  It is a really neat zoo to go to, so if you are ever in Ohio, definitely make a stop there!  The way they have each of the different continent areas set up is soooo neat and different.  Plus, they have polar bears back!  Woo Hoo.  Who doesn't love themselves a couple of polar bears?  Of course, nothing beats out the cuteness of Penguins and Manatees...my 2 favorite animals.  Someday I'll have to show yall my collection of penguins.  After Zoombezi Bay we made some grilled fish for dinner and then went out to German Village in Columbus and watched a free performance of The Scarlett Pimpernel put on in the park.  It was a very fun way to end the evening of a very busy day!

And last but not least, a quick pic of the play we saw.  I am still trying to figure out my stupid camera for night time picture, so please forgive the bluryness

Sunday Outfit

Today is Father's Day!  We never do much for Father's Day, just a short family meal, and thats about it.  We're pretty boring.  Not much news to report, so its pretty short today, just a bunch of pictures.  This is an outfit I made last year for one of my friend's weddings.  Supposedly when I bought the pattern, it was a 50's pattern, but the way it came out, I feel like it has a much more 30's feel.  Am I crazy?  Because that is how I always accessorize the outfit; with 30's hats, etc.  What I really like about this dress is, one, it is made from 30's vintage fabric, and I also like the flowyness of the top half.

A few weeks ago, my best friend got married.  Yay for Priscilla and Manoj.  The wedding pictures will come later because they honestly deserve their own posting :D  For the rehearsal dinner, I made a dress in like 2 days.  It was crunch time major ( I totally just felt like Zenon with that lingo).  I wanted to make something bright and cheery, so I went to our local quilt fabric shop because she carries a lot of reproduction fabric lines.  There is a contrasting fabric along the sleeve and the neckline which I think just adds that little something extra.  These pictures were taken actually last week, because I didn't take any pictures on the day of the actual rehearsal.  Stupid me.  And I most definitely NOT having a good hair day.  Oh goodness.

Good Friday

Hello dear Blog readers. Today is another modern day post.  For the past 2 years on Good Friday, my church has done a musical service, and it is seriously very quickly becoming my favorite service to go to.  The music that our choir director picks out is just so beautiful and moving.  Yet again, I played in the orchestra instead of singing, which I didn't mind, because the oboe part was actually quite beautiful and melodic. Again,we wore all black, but this is the outfit I wore while I was at work.

I feel Gretal...or Heidi

2 Saturdays ago, Mom and I attempted to go the monthly flea market. However, is was seriously pouring down rain, so we went to 2 Antique Malls near there.  Springfield, OH is seriously like the hubbub of Antiquing.  However, when we were at the first antique mall, the electricity went out in the whole area, so that meant no more shopping.  I did find a lot of neat things for my shop, that will be featured in another blog post coming soon.  I decided to wear my pair of WWII Navy pants that fit like a dream.  I also wore a top that I made out of fabric from the 40's.  I reall like the versatility of the shirt because its casual but can also be dressy.  I've seen people wear their hair like this, but never tried it before, and let me tell you, I really really love it.  It is so quick to do and I think it is really complimentary on a lot of different types of faces.  I do feel like Heidi or Gretal, though, haha.  Since my hair is so short though, I have to do it differently than how people probably normally do it.  I make two really high pigtails and leave the ponytails in while I braid them.  Then I take out the pigtail ponytail and pin the braids up with about 6 or 8 bobbypins.  Does that make sense.  In my head it does, but I never know how it sounds to other people haha.

A Modern Day

Well, this is not something I normally do, but I thought I would try out a modern day outfit post.  I can do a whole lot more of these, since this is the type of clothing that I normally wear to work.  Its almost impossible to wear my vintage clothing to work since it is all nicer and work is not so nice.  Seriously, most of the places that I job coach at are in warehouse or supermarkets.  Fun times.  But I do like to see what people wear besides vintage...sometimes.  So, how do you feel dear bloggers if I do random modern day outfit posts as well?
