A few weeks ago I went to a humongous antique mall and found lots of goodies, but my most favorite find was this pair of 1930's shoes, practically in perfect condition.  And what's more, they actually fit my big feet!  I was so ecstatic, I planned my entire outfit for church around my shoes.....and here's the outcome:

Sunday Outfit

Today is Father's Day!  We never do much for Father's Day, just a short family meal, and thats about it.  We're pretty boring.  Not much news to report, so its pretty short today, just a bunch of pictures.  This is an outfit I made last year for one of my friend's weddings.  Supposedly when I bought the pattern, it was a 50's pattern, but the way it came out, I feel like it has a much more 30's feel.  Am I crazy?  Because that is how I always accessorize the outfit; with 30's hats, etc.  What I really like about this dress is, one, it is made from 30's vintage fabric, and I also like the flowyness of the top half.

Easter 2011

Today is Easter. Woo Hoo Easter.  The day that Jesus was miraculously resurrected from the dead after dying for our sins upon the cross.  How totally awesome is that.  I had my little kiddies in Sunday School class have a cheering party for Jesus and then we had an Easter egg hunt and watched some lovely Veggie Tales movies.

After church, mom and I watched some super fun Robin Hood episodes.  I know this is probably pretty obvious, but my family has a strong appreciation for British tv.  We watched Robin Hood while it was playing on BBCA, but I like to revisit it from time to time on dvd.  Because its that awesome.

And then later on, we finally had our family dinner which I made potatoes au gratin for.  Recipe will be coming soon because its on that I actually made up myself and they always disappear very quickly.  Yummo

Winter Weather

Winter Weather. I hate winter weather.  That's all I really have to say.  The only good thing I can say about winter weather is that it gives me an excuse to sew more.  I think sewing is like my therapy.

I made this coat last year from a Vogue pattern

Yes I know I just wore this outfit, but I finally finished refurbishing my hat.  I had some vintage veiling that I attached to it.  And honestly, how does someone afford to have enough clothes to wear something new every day.

And, I wore the necklace my grandparents gave me for Christmas to Church.

Vintage Vogue Pattern and Store Preview

 Well, I'm sitting here watching my weekly dose of Degrassi (my guilty pleasure) and I realized I haven't done a blog post in almost 2 weeks.  In fact, I've barely read any of the blogs that I follow in that amount of time either.  Yikes!  That's a buttload of reading to catch up on.  To catch you up in about 2 sentences, last weekend I went with my lovely parents to a humongo Antique Mall in Springfield (also the home of my very favorite flea market which is next week).  I found several vintage dresses and 2 pairs of shoes, some of which will go in my store (previews below).  I also worked on and finished my very first vintage Vogue pattern.  It was relatively easy....no major snafus or anything which surprises me.  I've sewn with many current Vogue patterns and I find the instructions to be extremely difficult and confusing- this coming from someone who has been sewing for over 15 years, so I was pleasantly surprised.  I feel like this might be a pattern I will use again.  I like the way it fits and looks on me, and finally a full skirt that came out the way it was supposed to be (and I just remembered you probably have no idea what I'm talking about since I never did a post about the dress I made last weekend which had some major snafus- that will come shortly I guess :O).  And tonight, we had a lovely family dinner at a very nice local restaurant where I had a yummy veal and lump crab dinner and creme brulee for dessert.  And tomorrow I go to the mall for the first time in almost a year.  Yikes!  Oh, and I won a Lovely Blog Award.... I will be doing that post soon, I'm too tired to do it tonight:D

I found this pair of NOS 1940's shoes, but they are very small on my large feet.  Boo. 

Also, I went through all my hats and decided to sell about 15 of them so as soon as I get those photographed those will be up in my store too.  I am going to work on listing things tomorrow.

I guess you can't really see the detailing in this adorable dress.  It has an inverted pleat on both the front and back center section and also has additional pleating on both sides.  It also has a center zipper which was the first time I have encounter such a thing and I'm not sure if I like it.  I sadly ran out of fabric before I could cut out the belt, so I'm not sure what to do because I do have a super duper cute belt buckle that matches the buttons to use.  Hmm.  I've been remarathing (for the 4th time) Dark Angel while sewing this week.  Has anyone seen any good movies (new or old) that they want to recomend?  I'm always looking for new things to watch while sewing.
